Lesson 1: Course intro / what to expect

Introduction

Hi! My name is Miguel Bravo, and I'm the founder of New Content Collective. Thanks for purchasing this course. I'll jump right into it...

The purpose of this course is to teach you the most important aspects of content marketing. By the end of this course, you should fully understand how to utilize blog content as a powerful and fundamental marketing tool for your business. Not only will you understand though, I'll be providing you with actionable tips and strategies, plus downloadable templates, tools, and resources.

This course was made specifically for business owners, DIY marketers, and freelancers looking to better inform their clients.

This course is laid out into 5 sections:

  • the introduction (this section)
  • the research (where you'll learn how to find the most effective topics)
  • the organization (where you'll understand how to prep before your write)
  • the execution (where you'll learn how to actually create an effective blog post)
  • and measurement (where you'll learn how to gauge your successes and failures)

Most lessons have both a video and text transcript. A few have only detailed text with helpful animated gifs and/or supplementary video. Many of the lessons include a bonus resource, template, or tool.

The sections are in chronological order, meaning please don't skip around. It's important to understand the methodology to creating effective content for your business so that you don't end up wasting your efforts.

Each section will have a quiz to help you review and remember what you just learned. Don't worry, we're not grading you.

It's important to note that while we'll be using the term "blog" or "blogging" frequently throughout the course, content marketing is more than just blogging. Blogs just happen to be the most popular form of content (and for good reason). Also, blogs don't have to be called blogs. They can also be called news, company updates, what’s new, articles, and posts.

At any point during this course, if you're confused about something, please write a comment. It may not be answered right away, but I'll do my best to give you an answer as soon as possible.

That's all I've got for now. We hope you enjoy this course :)
